We are blessed each year to have so many guests come to visit with us. Whether they be our loyal locals, first-timers, or the guests that make a point to visit us every time they come to town, we count our blessings every day. One of the best things about having so many supporters are the questions they ask about our menu and what options they should try. I’m feeling especially hungry today, so I thought to myself, “what would I order today at River City Cafe?” This is what I came up with.
After being seated, I’d politely ask for a basket of peanuts, because one does not go to River City Cafe without eating at least a few peanuts. To start my experience, I would request a Grape Ape: a perfect combination of grape vodka, sour mix, Sprite, grenadine, and finished with a splash of Blue Curacao.
As I sip my drink, I think I would like to try something different. Today, I am going to start with one of the Signature Apps. The Fried Green Beans are exactly what my taste buds are screaming for! Tempura battered and fried, then served with our tangy petal sauce. I’m getting excited just thinking about them!
I may even order a House Salad from our Fresh Salads section. Just large enough to satisfy the craving, but small enough to ensure I can still enjoy the main entree that will be delivered to me soon. This salad features a bowl of fresh greens, tomato, cucumber, shredded cheddar cheese, and croutons. There are 7 different dressings to choose from. Today, I’m going to select our homemade avocado ranch for that smooth and creamy flavor with just a little bit of tangy.
Now onto the main attraction. First, I’m going to ask for a delicious Sweet Tea in one of our cool souvenir cups, because I know I am going to be extra thirsty. As for the main part of my meal, today feels like the perfect day to order from the Traditional Burgers section of our menu. I’m looking for something robust, with plenty of flavors and maybe even a little spice. Today, I’m ordering the R.C. Burger! Think about it with me. Our traditional beef patty, dressed in lettuce, tomato, hickory smoked bacon, sautéed fresh mushrooms, jalapenos, Swiss, and cheddar cheeses, and finished with some of our homemade Texas-style chili and bookended with our traditional bun. Good thing I had a napkin on my desk. I just drooled…..
The real question comes to the sides. Of course, I’m going to enjoy some delicious River City Cole Slaw, but the decision becomes really hard when you have to choose between fries, onion rings, or sweet potato waffle fries. Toss in the fact that I can add cheese, chili, bacon, and jalapenos to the fries, or I could add gravy and sautéed fresh mushrooms to my fries…..I might have to do a series of coin flips to make a choice. This is the hardest decision I have had to make all week. Since the burger already has sautéed fresh mushrooms and jalapenos, I am going to decide on the onion rings. I might have to ask for some extra petal sauce though….that stuff is really good!
At this point, a normal person would be more than satisfied and ready to pay the check and leave, but I came here on a mission. I came here today to enjoy every aspect of River City Cafe. The last item I’ll order is going to come from our Desserts section. I’m craving the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie drizzled with white chocolate. The dessert is the perfect size to wrap up my visit and sweet enough to refresh my palate from all of the other flavors I was fortunate enough to experience during my adventure.
